| SYNOPSIS | |
| KLAMPERT: A “real” live album is very rare these days. You know what I mean by real. I am talking about the CD where you can tell it was actually live. I have heard Jared in Desperation band and liked him, but never was a fan of his solo stuff until this CD. I just love the raw feel to it. Jared on the keys is awesome. Most of the songs are moderate speed with a Vineyard meets IHOP kinda feel. It may at times sound dated, but honestly it’s just a nice break from all of the other worship out there that sounds the same. Jared does one of the 50 (exaggerated) versions of “how he loves” on the CD and I think it may be my least favorite track and my least favorite version.
This is a great worship CD that doesn’t really push any boundaries, but can stand on it’s own. |

| MAHONEY: Another release this year from someone connected to The Desperation Band brings a different flavor and vibe to the party. I love “live” albums, and this is exactly what this is. I imagine that this record captures Jared for who he is – a talented worship leader with an eye toward leading congregations in praise and worship.Jared adds his own take on the currently-popular “How He Loves” by John Mark MacMillan. His interpretation is safe and predictable, but a good model for churches looking to do this song. I especially like the way the choir comes in midway through the second verse.Everything on this album is designed for corporate worship, it seems, so there is a wealth of material here for worship leaders looking for new songs. While I personally might enjoy some more upbeat tunes, I found myself listening to the record over and over, and feeling a deep connection with some of the songs. | |
| VANCE: I hear some “live” worship albums and I begin to wonder exactly how live is actually is. This album from Jared Anderson is called “Live From My Church” and that’s exactly what it does sound like. I can imagine the worship there sounding just like this from week to week.Jared’s songs are for the most part piano driven, but he is accompanied by a good range of other musical instruments. At the end of a few songs Jared does a reprise with just him on the piano. I thought this worked the first time I heard it, but think it was probably overkill to do it on several songs.I also think the album has a old Vineyard vibe to it, so the songs for me are like listening to some of my old 80′s or early 90′s worship albums.Jared is another artist in a long line to cover John Mark McMillan’s great song How He Loves Us. I love this song, but this would not be my favorite version of the song.
This is a very listenable album with great crafted songs that are really easy to sing along with. |

| BOTTOM LINE | |
KLAMPERT: I like this CD and think there are a few gems on it. Don’t go into this CD thinking it’s another desperation band Cut because Jared brings his own personal style to this one and it comes off great. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| MUST HAVE SONGS | |
KLAMPERT:

| BYRD: | |
| MAHONEY: “Inside” is a great song. So are “Lift the Name” and “Carrier” and “Prepare the Way.” | |
| VANCE: I like the opening track Lift The Name. I’m not too keen on Never Be Shaken – a tad cheesy. Prepare The Way is a nice gentle worshipful track. God Be In My Head is great, even though I find it weird singing “God be in my head”. I really like Inside – probably my favorite track on the album. The album ends with two great songs – Glorified and We Will Be Changed. | |
| SONGS FOR CHURCH | |
| KLAMPERT: A simple answer would be pretty much every song on here, but I would start with the must haves. | |
| BYRD: | |
| MAHONEY: All of them. Seriously. Every single song in this record is appropriate and approchable for corporate worship. The title says it all. |
|
| VANCE: Literally every song on here could be used by your church. Even if you only have one guy on a piano or guitar, on this album you will find eleven great songs to lead your congregation to worship. |

Hey guys – great reviews. I’m surprised that none of you mentioned that “Glorified” on this record is really “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman! Anyone notice that?
@alan – sir you are the man. So glad you like what we have going here. Thanks for subscribing.
If you ever have a specific question please let us know.
@Chris – thanks man…and wow totally didnt think about that.
I saw her open for sting (he was AMAZING) she might have been one of the worst concerts I’ve ever seen.
Finally getting around to checking the new digs out and the place looks great! Love what you guys are doing.
I’m a Jared Anderson fan. Love the Desperation band stuff as well. From what you guys are saying, this one is good as well.
But the other say, I saw an ad fro this CD and only one thing caught my attention. The title. “Live from MY church”. I am sure I am too sensitive to this, but this seems like one of the more inappropriate titles I have ever seen on a worship album. The idea of the THE church coming togather and singing songs in unity to worship God, has absolutely nothing to do with Jared’s church. it has everything to do with the kingdom. I would like to see more of an emphasis on unity in the church and less of a statement of separation.
I am sure his intent was to say, here are songs birthed from my building and my life and the community I live with. But for some reason, it still rubs me wrong.
Am I way off?
Brent! so so glad you came over to the site bro.
Ya know I never thought about that and I think its just a wording issue.
I think it was not meant to say “these are the songs birthed in my church”
But I think what it meant was…”this is a concert I did in my church building. and we just so happened to record it so you could enjoy it to.”
The word “FROM” is the issue
It should say “LIVE: AT (insert church name)”
I agree Joel. I think it is just a wording thing. Our words, as the church, are so crucial to those around us. We have to be aware of how we sound. I would have agreed with “live at”.
