Steven Curtis Chapman: Beauty Will Rise “non-review”

A month ago we received, from EMI records, a review copy of Steven Curtis Chapman’s “Beauty Will Rise” CD. I listened to it many times and then was going to send it to the rest of the crew to review it. If you are a reader of this review site you will most likely be aware that we are very “honest”. We don’t believe being a Christian is a cop out or excuse to put out poor quality stuff so every review does not get sugar coated.
Because of this I want to address this CD.
I founded this site and brought in my great brothers to review with me so I guess I’m playing the “I started it” card. here:

Beauty Will Rise is a beautiful and heartbreaking CD about the loss of a mans child. Every one of the men on the joint review have kids and the idea of losing one of them is unfathomable. This CD takes you on a journey in this mans broken heart and his struggle to find healing and peace in this horrible tragedy. There are songs on this CD where he is arguing with God and seeking answers. There are songs of hope for heaven.

When it comes down to it I have decided we WILL NOT review this CD. No matter what you think about the songwriting or production if you have kids this CD will rip your guts out, as it did mine, and We can not review a CD that came form the very depths of Stevens soul.

I want to encourage you to pick this CD up and listen to it and then pray for steven curtis and his family and pray for anybody else who has experienced the loss of a child. If there ever was a CD that spoke the message of being pro life and how precious it is..this is the one.

We received a review copy of this from EMI records and have not been paid for a review

    Classy Joel, absolutely classy.
This says it all and it’s important that we don’t forget about the heart and attitudes behind the music. I agree, I don’t know how I could have even begun an attempt to critique something like that.
