SYNOPSIS
KLAMPERT: I got this CD because Cory is out of IHOP and his mentor, who I love, is Misty Edwards. I popped it into itunes and hit Go and hated what I heard. Yeah you read that right. I did not like what I heard at all. I decided to give it another chance. Then another. Then…. well I could not stop listening to it. It arrested my heart and not only did I not hate the CD I now LOVED IT. This CD is very out of the box and experiments with many different styles and I love how it pushes the limits of Corporate worship. This guy has talent in not only songwriting but also in musicality and production.

MAHONEY: When I first listened to this CD, I was, like, “What am I listening to?”   After a couple of listens, I’m still “What am I listening to?”   While there are some good songs on the record, it is all over the place thematically.  Maybe that’s what Cory was shooting for, but I don’t really look forward to a compilation of singles. Not to say that Cory doesn’t have mad chops, because he does.  He can pull off a variety of styles successfully, and this album has all kinds of ear candy on it.  He has a wonderful, plaintive voice that really touches deep in some of the ballads, and cuts well in some of the more rocked out tunes.  (Ditch the hip-hop, though…) As I said, I like some of the songs, but as an album, it doesn’t really work for me.
VANCE: This is a fairly random record.  I mean, a lot of albums will have a consistent feel or style.  Not this one.  Every song seems to fit in a different genre.  We have pop, soul, ballads, r&b, rock, rap and autotune(!).  I can appreciate most of what Cory has done here, but for the most part this album is rap/r&b and that is not my cup of tea.
BOTTOM LINE
KLAMPERT: An amazing CD that pushes the boundaries of worship these days. I love what he did with this CD. A few songs lyrically I was not a fan of because they were reminiscent of old Vineyard “kiss me jesus, marry jesus” kinda songs. Other than that I can’t get enough of this CD  Rating: ★★★★☆
BYRD:
MAHONEY: A  decent collection of tunes.  Some very good songs, but for an “album” it plays like an mp3 player on “shuffle.” Rating: ★★★☆☆
VANCE: Cory is a one talented fella, but this album is not for me! Rating: ★★★☆☆
